High-fibre Smoothie Recipe

High-fibre Smoothie Recipe

Who doesn’t love a good smoothie? Vegan, fresh, tasty, smooth (pun intended), and packed with all the good stuff!

Recently, I had a consultation with a dietician regarding a new strategic meal plan to follow.
For the past 2 years I have had moderate hypertension, meaning, my blood pressure level is around 140-159 mmHg systolic and or 90-99 mmHg diastolic.
What the hell does that mean? I’m glad you asked!

To sum it up, (HBP or hypertension) is when the blood pressure force is pushing against the walls of the blood vessels, which is consistently too high. Scary right?

I’m sure I am not the only one who suffers with this? Any who, back to my story about my dietician appointment.

So, I had this consultation because I wanted to lower my blood pressure (obviously), and make sure I’m eating the right foods for my body in order to lower my BP. Plus, I want to live a long and healthy life. We must look after ourselves in order to achieve the very life we want.

I realised very quickly, that my diet didn’t consist of nowhere near enough fibre that it should, and that I eat wayyyyy too much salt. Those with HBP, are often told not to consume too much salty or fried food…. great! The good stuff. This has meant cutting down soooo much sodium in my diet, which is savage, as I LOVE salty foods ☹
So, I am now eating fruit in my breakfast/snack and veggies in my lunch and dinner meals; with no added salt. All meals for the day now include plenty of fibre and less sodium! YES!

Now that I have my daily macros, I can swap in and out certain foods to fit for the day. This includes my own famous, Banana Berry smoothie! My blood pressure is improving and lowering within the last 5 weeks which I am so chuffed about. It really is what’s on the inside that counts.

Now, get blitzing this awesome recipe to add more fibre into your diet! Enjoy.

I hope you love this recipe just as much as I do.

Beautifully you,

Tenille x
